Ribbon Cable
- Use For: Automation, Data, Panel and Equipment (Hook-Up)
- Ultra Flexible
- Temperature Range: 0° to 175° F
- Insulation: PVC Plastic
Often used in electronic prototyping or in the interior of computers, this flat cable is ultra flexible with small-gauge wires so it fits in tight spaces. Unlike standard flat control cable, the wires are bonded together without an overall insulation, so they can be easily separated for installation. Cable is flame rated VW-1 to meet requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test with vertically suspended material.

Twisted-Pair Data Communication Cable
- Use For: Data, Interference Shielding
- Flexible
- Temperature Range: 0° to 165° F
- Insulation: PVC Plastic
This cable has twisted pairs of wires that cancel signal interference from multiple transmission lines, as well as foil and braid shielding over the entire cable. It's often used to transmit data in high speed computers near variable-frequency drive motors, where voltage fluctuations and current spikes can distort signals. The industry designation is CM and CMG, so it’s approved for in-wall installation and has flame-resistant insulation. The uninsulated ground wire is not counted in the number of wires.

Industrial Communication-Standard Cable
- Use For:
Flexible: Data, Interference Shielding
Continuous Flex: Data, Interference Shielding, Automation, Continuous Motion - Insulation: See Table
Connect devices such as sensors, programmable logic controllers, and actuators to an automated network. Choose the communication standard that matches your existing network.
Flexible cable bends easily, but is not meant to be in constant motion. Use continuous-flex cable in automated applications that require continuous motion, such as robotics.
Choose cable with PVC plastic outer insulation for general purpose indoor applications. Its protective layer resists abrasion, though it contains halogen. It’s also less flexible than cable with TPE rubber insulation. Cable with TPE rubber outer insulation has a halogen-free protective layer that is more flexible and resists abrasion better than other materials. It also stands up to extreme temperatures and chemicals, making it good for use in harsh outdoor environments.
Shielded cable has a layer of foil that blocks signal interference from nearby equipment and devices. Double shielded cable has a layer of braid and foil shielding for better protection against signal interference than foil alone. Use it in environments with high signal distortion, such as near transformers, generators, and heavy duty motors.
Uninsulated ground wires are not counted in the number of wires.
Flame rated cable meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test. FT4 cable is mounted to a vertical tray during testing. VW-1 cable is suspended vertically during testing.

Continuous-Flex Ethernet Cable
- Use For: Automation, Continuous Motion, Data, Interference Shielding
- Continuous Flex
- Outer Insulation: TPE Rubber, except Category 6A is Polyurethane Plastic
Inner Insulation: TPE Rubber, except Category 6A is Polyolefin Plastic
Often used in automated applications that require continuous motion such as robotics, this cable sends data between computers, servers, and switches without degrading data transmission. This Ethernet cable is backward compatible so it works in networks that meet the same or a lower category. It is double shielded, which means it has a layer of braid and foil shielding for better protection against signal interference than braid alone. Use it in environments with high signal distortion, such as near transformers, generators, and heavy duty motors. Bend radius is the point to which the cable will bend without being damaged. It is measured from the center of the bend to the edge of the cable. The smaller the measurement, the tighter the bend.
Flame rated cable meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test. FT1 cable is suspended vertically during testing. FT2 cable is suspended horizontally during testing.

- Max. Temperature: 165° F
- Insulation: PVC Plastic
Transmit data in rough industrial applications. An additive in the PVC insulation gives this cable excellent resistance to oil and UV light. It’s backward compatible so it works in networks that meet the same or a lower category.
Use unshielded cable in applications where signal interference is not a concern.
Shielded cable has a layer of foil that blocks signal interference from nearby equipment and devices. It has an uninsulated ground wire that is not counted in the number of wires.

Duct-Rated Oil-Resistant Ethernet Cable
- Use For: Data
- Flexible
- Max. Temperature: 300° F
- Insulation: FEP Plastic
Also known as plenum cable, this cable is designated CMP, so it has low-smoke insulation and can be used without conduit in duct work and above a drop ceiling. The oil-resistant FEP insulation protects wires as the cable moves from duct to equipment or machinery. It also resists UV light. It’s backward compatible so it works in networks that meet the same or a lower category.

Coaxial Cable
- Use For: Audio, Data, Interference Shielding, Video
- Flexible, except RG-213/U is Bend and Stay
- Max. Temperature: See table
- Insulation: PVC Plastic, except RG-316/U is FEP Plastic
Often used in radio transmission, network connections, and digital audio feed, this cable transmits audio, video, and data signals.
RG-58/U and RG-59/U cable are good for low frequency transmissions such as radio signals. RG-62A/U cable is often used in computer networks and electronics.
RG-174/U cable has a small diameter, so it’s easy to coil. RG-213/U cable has the largest diameter, so it's thicker and more robust than other coaxial cable. It is used in high frequency transmissions such as ground communications. RG-316/U cable has the smallest diameter, so it is extremely flexible for routing in tight spaces. Its FEP plastic insulation withstands high temperatures. It is often used in military equipment.
RG-6/U cable is good for medium to high frequency transmissions and is often used in satellite signal transmission.
Shielded cable has a layer of braid that blocks signal interference from nearby equipment and devices. Double shielded cable has a layer of braid and foil shielding for better protection against signal interference than foil alone. Use it in environments with high signal distortion, such as near transformers, generators, and heavy duty motors. Quad shielded cable has two layers of braid and two layers of foil for the most protection against signal interference and the clearest signal.
